You love creating engaging experiences with a bold creative vision ? You want to be involved in every aspect of the game creation ? You are not afraid to deal with the constraints of indie game development and are you like to learn new things along the way ? Then you may be a great fit for our team to contribute to the success of Maracas while building lasting relationships.

Your missions will be as follows :
  • Creating 3D assets such as characters, props, and environments, adhering to a distinct art style and technical requirements
  • UV mapping, texturing and tweaking within the game engine
  • Taking part in researching and iterating on the art style
  • Anticipating and addressing production challenges, including project deadlines and platform limitations
  • Collaborating with all members of the team to make sure your work follows the technical and design requirements
  • Building environment settings based on blocked-out (greybox) level design
  • Rigging and skinning characters and props
  • Bringing life to environments with animations, particles, shaders...

$Our projects
We develop games that stand-out from the competition, aimed at a large audience, on PC and consoles, with scopes between 500K and 2M euros. Our projects' art styles are varied but always stylized (not realistic). We find smart ways to achieve our creative vision because we know that the player experience is what matters in the end. All our games are developed on Unity.
Our main on-going development is a cooperative twin-stick shooter set in a post-apocalyptic Earth. The game is in 3D top-view with a stylized render.
We are working on an educational game that should be completed before autumn. This is a puzzle game teaching engineering project skills through gameplay, in 3D and viewed from the top with a fixed camera.
We have plans for a multiplayer cooperative game with a strong social aspect which could start pre-production / prototyping by the end of the year.

Profil recherché

We are looking for candidates with experience working on video games with real time constraints (from school projects, personal work or professional work).

The skills we consider necessary are the following :
  • Mastery of Blender
  • Knowledge of Unity 3D
  • Capable of integrating your assets on Unity, testing and tweaking them in the game
  • Proactive to propose art solutions to design and technical problems
  • Eye for light, good understanding of composition, shade, colors
  • Good written and oral expression in English (the team is composed of non-French speakers and all documentation is written in English to be accessible to our collaborators)

Working in a small indie team requires a high level of organization and autonomy. We want someone who has the following skills or who is willing to work on them with us :
  • Creating your own tasks during planning with the help of the project manager, then managing them daily.
