The Centre for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI) is leading international and national projects in innovative approaches in research and education. The CRI Game Lab is dedicated to developing games for science, learning, and social change.

Located in the Montparnasse tower, the CRI was founded in 2005 as a convivial place at the crossroad between Life Sciences and exact, natural, cognitive and social sciences. Researchers at the CRI are involved in studying and initiating projects at the interface of Science, education and society, spanning from young children, high school students from disadvantaged environment and graduate students.

Aimed at promoting the interaction between graduate students and researchers, diverse student-lead workshops, open to the entire scientific Paris community, are held on a bi-weekly basis. Through the clubs, students initiated projects emerged such as award-winning Paris iGEM team and the Interdisciplinary approaches to web sciences.

The GameLab & MakerLab at the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI), a unique and open research environment, are looking for talented and motivated game creators to join our CRI Labs Summer School (CLaSS 2017) in Paris. You will create innovative video games that further the UN's health and environment Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). CLaSS is a unique opportunity to use and boost your skills, working on innovative and challenging game projects that support open science.

The program is divided in 3 parts :
  • Week 1 : Serious fun - Master classes, workshops and jams in health & environment game development
  • Week 2 : Hack the MakerLab - Learn to use the CRI's makerspace, to fabricate health & environment devices and alternative game controllers
  • Weeks 3-7 : Change the world - The final project. In mentored, multidisciplinary groups, you will create, test, and showcase a full education, research or experimental game that helps solve a real-world health or environment problem

We can offer an unpaid internship for 7 weeks (June 26 through August 11).
  • Work with researchers, teachers, doctors, environmental scientist, game experts and more
  • Explore new kinds of games for Health and Environment education and research
  • Master classes, workshops, and learning expeditions in game creation, digital fabrication, medical training through games, and more.
  • Participate in research projects, mentored by top scientists, doctors, makers, and game creators from a number of countries.

Profil du candidat

  • Excellent English (CLaSS is an international summer school and will take place entirely in English).
  • Ability to connect and co-design with researchers and students from other disciplines (medicine, data science, environment, biology...).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively in small teams.
  • Rapid prototyping skills are a plus.
  • Game development experience is a big asset.
  • Open source development experience a plus.
