Level Designer

Fixed term contract Paris (75)

Position Duties

We are looking for a Level Designer with a particular experience in action games, specifically encounter-design and combat-design.

We need someone to work with our Game Designers on the encounters of the game, that can come up with many diverse ways to arrange our enemies and level design bricks.
We are using Unity Engine.
As part of the design team you will also be encouraged to propose new gameplay bricks and enemy behaviours.

Your missions :
  • Creating, and iterating, on new and existing arenas in a 3D action game with a strategy / puzzle twist.
  • Documenting and explaining your vision for the design of the arenas and of the encounters.
  • Ensuring that the levels are coherent with the art direction of the different zones and respect art metrics.
  • Suggesting enemies / bricks design change or new bricks if you feel it would help better the game.

Need to know :
  • We are making an Isometric action game, and must work with these types of constraints and advantages (Think Death Door, Diablo, Path of Exile, style of gameplay, but with a puzzle layer)
  • Building levels in Unity directly (pro builder / pro grid)

Candidate Profile

  • At least 3+ years of Level Design experience, if you are a junior, having a lot of Level Design related personal projects in your portfolio is a minimum.
  • Preferably have one shipped project to show, or multiple personal projects with a heavy focus on level design.
  • Be familiar with action games, isometric action games, and/or puzzle games would be a big plus.
  • Able to work relatively autonomously in a young team, taking initiatives and being meticulous towards the details.

Additional Information

Contract : CDD / fixed-term - 6 months
Remote : 2 days per week
