VFX Artist


Permanent contract Cergy (95)

Position Duties

As a VFX Artist, you work as part of the visual effects team to design, develop, and implement real-time particle effects which use both static and animated 2D/3D elements.

You collaborate with the art and creative directors to create VFX that are stunning, turn wild ideas into awe-inspiring reality through visual effects while also working with other development team members to ensure technical feasibility. You work with animators and designers to integrate VFX into gameplay mechanics.

You are responsible for project deadlines while scaling your work back or ramping up according to the needs of the project. You manage delivery of project's environments and assets on schedule and provide schedule estimates for asset production

You work closely with engine programmers to build future tools, pipelines, and graphic potential

Candidate Profile

  • 2 + years minimum in the game industry (Significant contribution to at least 1 shipped game).Your portfolio demonstrates special effects within a released game or game engine (realtime).
  • Experience with simulation tools such as Houdini for pyro, fluid, and soft/rigid body dynamics
  • Experience in a secondary area such as texturing, modeling, skinning, animation, or lighting
  • Experience with one or more scripting/programming languages
  • University or equivalent degree
  • Proficiency with 3ds Max, Maya, and/or similar software
  • Ability to adhere to a cohesive aesthetic as set forth by the Creative Director
  • Breadth of artistic styles, passionate in creating high-quality particle effects and textures
  • Thorough understanding of shader techniques as applied to visual effects.
  • Demonstrates understanding of optimization
  • Works in an organized and timely fashion
  • Excellent sense of scale and composition/framing
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills both in French and English
  • Passion for gaming

Additional Information

  • Familiarity with a proprietary engines, tools and material creation
  • Solid understanding of rendering techniques, shaders, physics, lighting, etc.
  • Full-time in-house position
