Junior/Mid Technical Artist

Position Duties

Virtuos Paris is looking for a Junior Technical Artist to be part of our creative team working on ambitious AAA games on PC, current and upcoming gaming consoles. This is a full-time position based in our Cergy's office which involves working in an international environment.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and efficient person to be a bridge between our creative artists and our talented programming team.

What you will do
  • Enabling the Art team to create fantastic AAA visuals.
  • Troubleshoot problems and find appropriate solutions.
  • Implement technical art features and visual effects with the help of the programming team.
  • Develop tools to assist the artists in their day-to-day tasks.
  • Provide constant technical support for tools and the engine to all the team members.
  • Implement and incorporate feedback from Art Director and other Leads into the project.
  • Optimize work and maintain balance between quality and performance.
  • Support the Art Director in any ad hoc tasks and duties.
  • Script assets and functionality using game engine scripting languages.
  • Build and optimize engine specific shaders and materials.
  • Use existing art pipelines and ensure assets conform to pipeline requirements.
  • Constantly adapt and learn new techniques and processes to face production constraints.

Candidate Profile

  • Knowledge of working with real-time engines like Unreal, Unity, Cry Engine etc.
  • Understanding of video game development processes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of rendering budgets and other technical issues related to performance in real-time engines.
  • Comfort with at least one game scripting language (Blueprinting preferred).
  • Experience collaborating with graphic programmers.
  • Great organizational and communication skills (English).
  • Superb problem-solving skills, both creative and technical.
  • Strong desire to keep up with the latest advancements in videogame graphics.

Would be a plus :
  • Experience of VFX, Lighting or Shader development.
  • Interest or knowledge of Houdini (proceduralism and automatization).
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4.
