DRAMA STUDIOS is an independent game studio based in Rennes, France. We focus on creating immersive, gameplay driven experiences through close collaboration between design, art and technology.

DRAMA STUDIOS is currently developing UNRECORD, a narrative open world tactical FPS built with Unreal Engine 5. UNRECORD aims to deliver a highly immersive experience through realism, systemic gameplay and a strong narrative approach. The project sits at an AA ambition level, combining creative freedom with solid production pipelines and technical rigor. Our goal is to craft believable worlds, meaningful player interactions and gameplay systems that feel grounded, intense and coherent.

You write and produce the narrative content of UNRECORD : mission and quest text, character and faction material, lore and dialogue. You work within the creative direction set by the leads, turning their intentions into concrete, well written content, rather than defining that direction yourself. You collaborate closely with the level and narrative design team, who integrate your content in engine, so that writing and gameplay reinforce each other. You focus on producing the writing, they handle the in engine scripting. Regular on site presence is expected. Partial remote work is possible.

$Responsibilities

• Write and structure quest and mission scenarios in line with the creative direction and tone of the game
  
• Write character, faction and lore content, and keep it documented and consistent
  
• Bring variety to the characters, while respecting a guiding line of universe and lore
  
• Write dialogue and barks that serve the missions, the characters and the moment to moment gameplay
  
• Keep your writing consistent with the tone and creative direction of the game, sober, grounded, no over promise
  
• Collaborate with level and narrative design so your writing fits the pacing and the constraints of interactive scenes
  
• Prepare narrative content for localization
  
• Iterate on your writing based on reviews and playtests
  

$Requirements

• Proven writing experience on a shipped or advanced project, in games or a related narrative medium
  
• Excellent writing skills in English, with the ability to write natural, restrained dialogue
  
• Strong dramaturgy and storytelling craft, from overall arcs down to a single line
  
• Able to write gripping, personal and intimate stories before reaching for large, ambitious arcs
  
• Sensitivity to grounded, realistic fiction and its ethical stakes
  
• Ability to write within interactive and production constraints, and to take direction from design
  
• A portfolio of writing samples or playable work
  

$Nice to have

• French language skills
  
• Familiarity with police, investigation, true crime or documentary material
  
• Comfort working alongside engine based production, or familiarity with narrative and dialogue tooling
  
• A background in screenwriting or dramatic writing
