At MainBot, we're creating meaningful robot companions, today for children and later on for the entire family. We have the firm belief that robots will exponentially enrich our daily life experience. Our first robot, Winky, is a modular and intelligent edutainment robot companion for children aged 5-12, combining affective behavior and educational features. Winky is a tool through which children will learn the basic concepts of robotics and software programming. Through computer or tablet apps, children will be able to play with Winky, program its behaviors (responses to changes in its environment), and learn about its inner workings.

Description du poste

As junior Unity3D developer, you will be responsible for implementing the gaming mechanics, visual and interactive features for the Winky mobile apps. Since these apps are bridges between the user and the robot, your work will be at the cornerstone between low-level communication protocols and high-level user experience concepts. You will also be responsible for integrating third-party technologies within the app. Reporting to the Lead Game Designer, you will work both as part of a team and individually.

Job Responsibilities :
  • Propose technical solutions to implement functional specification and game design ideas
  • Produce prototypes of gameplay ideas and features
  • Build upon selected prototypes, providing tools to streamline content editing and improve scalability
  • Take responsibility for the code architecture of the Winky games
  • Implement the communication protocol between the games and Winky
  • Integrate third-party technologies as necessary
  • Develop, release and maintain stable software, provide a stable build every week
  • Optimize performance
  • Keep the technical documentation up-to-date
  • Ensure compliance with the application distribution platforms rules and guidelines

Profil du candidat

Skills :
  • Problem solving/analysis, ability to convert functional specification and mockups to technical specifications ;
  • UX-driven mindset, with a focus on gameplay mechanics and visual language ;
  • Solid theoretical and practical software development skills, proficiency with C/C++ and C# languages ;
  • Knowledge of Unity3D capabilities, limitations, and best practices ;
  • Fluency with the use of version control systems, Git in particular ;
  • Interest in mobile app development and the specific challenges related to these platforms ;
  • Rigor, attention to detail, engagement for reliability ;
  • Ability to deliver quickly and improve upon existing features in an Agile sprint-based development cycle ;
  • Attention to detail, coupled with a willingness to share knowledge with the rest of the team.

Prerequisites :
  • Entry-level job, yet a first experience in a professional or open source development team is appreciated
  • Prior experience with Unity3D and mobile platforms as a game programmer
  • Autonomous, proactive, rigorous and organized mindset
  • Interest for robotics, videogames and education
  • Reasonable fluency in English (read, written, and spoken)

Technical Stack : Unity3D, Vuforia (Augmented Reality SDK), Wwise (sound engine), C# scripting, Git, Bluetooth (classic and LE) communications.
