Lead Artist

Position Duties

As a Lead Artist, you will be leading our studio's art team, goals and collaboration between disciplines to push our games to the next level in the industry.

Responsibilities :
  • Collaborate with Art / Producer team leadership to assist and develop artistic & professional level quality for the games Virtuos is working on.
  • Provide regular artistic guidance, constructive criticism & critical feedback to concept and 3d artists, ensuring that all art teams are producing assets that meet the overall visual style and quality bar.
  • Collaborate with other Artists to find the best solutions to all major technical and/or creative challenges facing the art team.
  • Adapt to different type of projects in terms of their technical needs as well as artistic styles.
  • Pro-actively identify and resolve risks to both the project and outsource pipeline and ensure that all security measures are in place.
  • Collaborate with tools and engine teams to continually improve upon our custom workflows and technology.

Candidate Profile

Must have qualifications
  • At least 5+ years of experience working in the video game industries.
  • Have experience in lead position and managing other artists.
  • Solid understanding of general 3d fields and ability to evaluate their complexity and estimation, this includes modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, rigging, skinning, animation, vfx, simulation, etc
  • Strong knowledge of 3D software like 3DS Max or Maya, Zbrush, etc.
  • Experience working with real time engines likes Unreal, Unity, CryEngine, etc.
  • Experience with creating props, characters, environments, lighting and material look development for real time platforms, in cartoonish / stylist.
  • Knowledge of rendering budgets and other technical issues related to performance in real-time engines.
  • Experience with PBR workflows using texturing software such as Substance Designer / Painter.

Nice to have qualifications
  • Traditional art skills like drawing, painting or sculpting.
  • Experience working with photogrammetry.
